Plans and measurements – Bergerault Marimba

Here you will find all the measurements and dimensions of the bars and resonators from a Bergerault marimba, a chromatic keyboard from A2 to C7, 52 bars.

These measures were carried out by Olivier Marnette as part of a project to build a marimba with French Guiana wood, a project you can discover by reading the article A French Guiana wood marimba on this site.

Measurements

How to read this board:

Longueur et largueur: Length and width of the wood bar (sorry I’m french!)
Emax: maximum thickness of the wood bar, on non-excavated parts
Emin: minimum thickness of the wood bar, in the middle of the excavated part
Dmax: length of the excavated part
Dmin: length of the straight excavated part, if equal to 0 the excavated part is only rounded
P: distance between the end of the bar and the center of the hole intended for the passage of the support rope
L pipe: length of the pipe air column, the distance between the top opening and the plug
